Play2Video Pro Kabelloser CarPlay/ Android Auto 3-in-1 Adapter

My sole purpose for this adapter was to go wireless connection to my 2019 NX300 which came with only Apple CarPlay support via wired connection. The adapter works relatively quicker and more stable than my other adapters. As soon as I turn the engine and the screen defaults to Bluetooth connection for the adapter, I have my Apple CarPlay ready on the menu.

Years ago I purchased an Ottocast MX adapter for my 2019 RAV4, which came with wired CarPlay but NOT wireless CarPlay or Android Auto, either wired or wireless. It was amazing in that it allowed me to use my CarPlay AND my wife to use her Android Auto.

Here's how it works. The little box is actually a tiny computer on a chip called an "embedded system", running the Android operating system. It tricks your car into thinking it's a wired CarPay device. What it really does is it pulls in your phone signal via Bluetooth (either Carplay or AA), converts it to something mimicking a CarPlay signal, and tricks your car into displaying it. This device also requires you to connect it to Wifi.

My MX had been getting slow, so it was time for an upgrade.

The problem is, I couldn't find another device that could handle both CarPlay and AA over a wired CarPlay device and switch between the two as easily as the MX did (there, you could "interrupt" during the startup process to switch phones). I literally spent hours looking for an alternative, including some of Ottocast's own products, but most of them are built for either CarPlay only or Android Auto only. And even with some of Ottocast's own products it's very kludgey to switch between devices.

This is a nice solution. It's actually built for video playback; on the chip (remember, it's like a tiny computer) it runs YouTube, Prime Video, Netflix, Spotify, and IPTV. The video quality is excellent.

One thing to note is that that nearly every state prohibits drivers from viewing video content (other than things like a backup camera) while driving, and it's not a great idea to do so anyway. But if you're in a parked car or standing in a legal spot idling and waiting for someone, it's a great solution.

Here's what I love most about it: it boots up to a screen where you can choose CarPlay or Android Auto. That's precisely what I've been looking for all along. I still prefer the MX's approach to automatically switching to the device that was last used, but this is much better than anything else I've seen recently.

I do hope Ottocast continues to release firmware updates to make switching easier on all their products. But for now, this is a great (and faster) upgrade to my old unit, still super-easy to use, and a great value.

It has changed everything. incredibly simple to begin going. Even with WiFi, it was really erratic at first. However, things have significantly improved over time. It is better than the CarPlay in my car. It is of excellent quality and performs admirably most of the time. There is a slight lack of connectivity, but it is not really noticeable. Worth it, for sure. Everything can be seen just in front of you. This small gadget is essential if you wish to improve the entertainment system in your vehicle. With its lightning fast connection, CarPlay and Android Auto are now entirely wireless no more fumbling with cords! The built-in apps like YouTube, Netflix, and Prime Video, however, are the true game-changer because they function flawlessly on the car's screen.

I was a little skeptical initially when ordering this but having used it for close to a month now I can say it works exactly as expected. I really like this built in YouTube and Netflix

The only issue I have had is really an iPhone issue. I connected my phone to a Bluetooth speaker and after that my phone would no longer automatically connect to the dongle so I had to re-pair it. This is a phone issue though and not the adapter.
